Bryce Boynton is a registered nurse (RN) and President of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN), representing Saskatchewan’s registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses and nurse practitioners.

Bryce’s path to becoming President of SUN began with an interest in how policy can improve Canada’s healthcare system and population health. From early on in his career, Bryce has consistently sought out roles where he could create a better environment for nurses and patients alike.

During his nursing studies at the University of Saskatchewan College of Nursing, Bryce served on the Board of Directors and President of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association. There, he represented the interests of nursing students to provincial, federal, and international governments and other nursing and healthcare organizations. Transparency and evidence-based solutions have always been key pillars of his leadership style.

Bryce also lent his talents to the Canadian Nurses Association, where he collaborated with government to advance health policy at a national level.  Bryce has served as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Public Health Agency of Canada, highlighting various public health issues within the prairie region and the impact of illness on Saskatchewan populations. He also reviewed government priorities and analyzed how they affected those same areas.

Bryce has served in roles across city, rural, and remote communities where he has worked with public health, primary care, home care, mental health and addictions, and dental care areas.

Bryce calls La Ronge home, where he lives with his rescue dog Hank. Hank found Bryce while kindly serving as a “volunteer” security dog to the Sandy Bay Health Centre in exchange for head scratches; the rest is history. For fun, Bryce likes taking Hank for walks through the forest and working on his golf game.
